Cataract Surgery


Cataract surgery is one of the most commonly performed, safest, and most helpful surgeries performed in the world today. Cataract surgical technology has changed dramatically, and Alliance cataract doctors offer the latest and safest new techniques. We offer stitchless surgery, topical anesthetics, wavefront technologies, and other new developments. We will talk with you individually about the best approach for you.

Retinal Surgery


Medical and surgical treatment of the retina is a very broad field, covering diabetic eye disease, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments, and vascular occlusions. The two Vision Alliance retinal practices, Alliance Retina and Retina Vitreous Associates off all of these services at a variety of locations. In addition, Dr. Rosenthal provides pediatric retinal care at Toledo Children's Hospital.

Glaucoma surgery


Glaucoma is a term referring to many different diseases that can damage the optic nerve, usually but not always related to increased eye pressure. Dr. Christina Tam did her fellowship training in glaucoma at The Will's Eye Hospital, recognized as one of the top three eye institutes in the world. She brings this expertise to the Vision Alliance, offering glaucoma care in Toledo, Oregon, Bowling Green, Wauseon, and Perrysburg. In addition, all of our general ophthalmologists have extensive experience taking care of most kinds of glaucoma.

Neuro-ophthalmology


More than half of the brain is in some way involved with vision. Because of this there is broad overlap between eye care and neurology. Dr. James Knupp, of Associated Eye Care is fellowship trained in neuro-ophthalmology. All of the Vision Alliance providers coordinate with Dr. Knupp in the care of patients with neurologic eye disease.

Pediatric Care


Likewise, all of the general ophthalmologists in the Vision Alliance have extensive experience with pediatric eye problems. For more specialized care, Dr. Knupp is also fellowship trained in pediatric ophthalmology. He offers services in Toledo, Oregon, Perrysburg, and Bowling Green. Dr. Rosenthal offers pediatric retinal care, including care of premature infants, congenital syndromes, and pediatric eye trauma.

LASIK and Refractive Surgery


Refractive surgery is a subspecialty involving reshaping the cornea so the eye can focus better. Refractive surgery is a rapidly growing field, encompassing LASIK and a variety of other refractive procedures. Several of the Alliance physicians offer these services and of course coordinate with local optometrists to maximize results.

Corneal Care


The cornea is the clear capsule on the front of the eye and the first and most powerful lens in the eye. Alliance physicians care for infections, degenerations, dystrophies, and injuries of the cornea. We also coordinate with academic centers for more specialized problems.
